About this opportunity
The Community Engagement Support Worker (Vietnamese) position is an integral part of the delivery of the Carer Gateway Services. This role is responsible for undertaking intake, assessment and planning services for Vietnamese speaking and other carers accessing support provided by the Carer Gateway.
The objective of the role is supporting the Coordinator Community Engagement and Volunteering to promote Wellways services, work with hard-to-reach carers, hidden caring cohorts or support Carers who are unable to access services via the Contact Centre in an outreach setting. This role will identify and facilitate opportunities that promote the inclusion of, and build the capacity of, people and community groups to access Carer Gateway services and achieve healthy, strong and connected communities.
The new Carer Gateway Services have been created in the context of national reforms and represent an exciting new era for the delivery of innovative Carer services.
Carer Gateway Services consist of six unique service types:
- Carer Support Planning: Intake needs assessment and planning
- Facilitated Carer Coaching
- In-person peer support
- In-person counselling
- Carer-directed flexible packages
- Emergency respite care
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following.
- Administration qualification, tertiary qualification in social science or a related discipline and/or relevant equivalent experience
- Qualifications and/or experience working in community services, allied health or carer/family peer positions
- Satisfactory Police Check (no older than 12 months)
- NSW (Paid Worker) Working with Children Check, prior to commencement
- Evidence of working rights within Australia such as a passport, birth certificate or VISA
- NDIS Orientation Module
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Evidence of full COVID vaccination including booster, or a valid medical exemption
